Q: When is the riding season?
A: Our guided motorcycle tours run from April to November, both during the week and at weekends.
Q: Do you have a calendar for the tours?
A: We don't have a fixed tour calendar. We run trips during the week and at weekends, depending on availability. Send us an email with the month or dates you are interested in and we'll let you know what is available.
Q: How difficult are the trails?
A: The difficulty of the trails and routes is tailored to your riding experience and skill level. We aim to make sure that you enjoy the riding while still getting the challenge you're looking for.
Q: I am very new to off-road motorcycle riding. Can I ride with you?
A: Of course! We cater for all riding levels, including beginners. You will receive guidance and riding tips throughout the trip, with the routes adapted to your experience.
Q: Do you offer training for beginners during the trips?
A: Yes. We start the first riding day with basic training before heading out onto the trails. During the trip, we will also analyse your riding and explain the correct techniques for approaching different types of terrain, sections and obstacles.
Q: Will I need a motorcycle licence?
A: A motorcycle licence is not required for most of our trips, as we ride predominantly off-road.
Q: What is the minimum age? I would like to ride with my son.
A: The minimum age is 13, riding a 125cc motorcycle. From 16 years old, riders will ride a 250–300cc motorcycle. Parental permission is required.
Q: Can I book a trip as a single rider, or can I join another group if I am travelling alone?
A: Of course! You can book as a single rider and we will find a place for you in a group with a similar riding level. Alternatively, you can book a ONE TO ONE TRIP and ride privately with a guide.
Q: Will other riders be joining the tour?
A: Yes. We normally put together groups of riders with similar riding skills and experience. If you prefer your own private trip, you can book a PRIVATE TRIP for a minimum of 8 riders.
Q: Do you provide personal insurance?
A: We do not provide personal insurance. Riders must purchase holiday insurance that covers off-road motorcycle riding, and this is mandatory. Riders participate in the tour at their own risk, and a liability waiver must be signed when the trip starts.
Q: What airport do I need to fly into?
A: The nearest airport is Sibiu International Airport. Transfers from Sibiu Airport are included in the price.
Cluj-Napoca International Airport is approximately two hours' drive from Sibiu. We can arrange a transfer from Cluj-Napoca Airport for an additional cost.

Q: How do I sign up for one of your guided motorcycle tours?
A: Send us an email and we will reply as soon as we can, usually within a few hours. When we are out riding, it may take a little longer to get back to you.
Once we have agreed on your dates, the following steps need to be completed:
1. We will send you our online booking form, which you can complete and submit.
2. Pay a deposit of 200 EUR/GBP/USD per rider by bank transfer. The deposit reserves your place on the tour.
3. The remaining balance must be paid 60 days before your tour date.
Q: What are the prices?
A: Prices are listed on our TRIPS page and are based on a minimum of 4 riders. For 1–3 riders, the price of the trip is increased by 25%.
Q: What is included in the price?
A:
• Motorbike with mousses, handguards, skid plate, radiator guards and ventilator

• Overnight stay away from the base in a different location

Q: What is not included in the price?
A: Dinner, riding kit, flight tickets, drinks, airport transfers from airports other than Sibiu, and other personal expenses.
Q: Do you provide riding gear?
A: Yes. For 50 EUR per person, you can rent riding gear for the entire trip, including MX pants and jersey, helmet, knee guards, MX chest and back protector, and boots.
You will need to bring your own goggles and gloves. We always recommend bringing your own riding gear if possible, as you will generally feel more comfortable riding in your own equipment.
Q: What type of accommodation is included?
A: Accommodation is in a shared twin room. A single-room supplement costs an additional 25 EUR per rider per riding day.

Q: Do you charge for bike damage?
A: Our bikes are equipped with extensive protection for hard enduro riding, including front and rear mousses, radiator guards, handguards, skid plate, exhaust protection, ventilator and front and rear disc guards.
Most of the time, nothing gets damaged. The bikes are built to handle hard riding. We don't charge for scratched plastics, and we only charge for parts that break and need to be replaced, such as a broken headlight or bent handlebars.
Q: What happens if a bike breaks down during the trip?
A: The guide will try to fix the problem on the trail. If it cannot be fixed, the bike will be replaced with a spare bike. We always have spare bikes available for our trips.
Q: How far is the first off-road section from the base?
A: Basically, we can ride off-road straight from our base. There is no need to ride on tarmac to reach the trails and no gates to get through. On our trips, we usually ride around 95% off-road.
Q: Can I get a new tyre for the trip?
A: Yes. You can get a brand-new tyre for 50 EUR. This needs to be booked in advance.
Q: What do I need to bring?
A: We recommend bringing:
• 10–20L rucksack
• Thin rain jacket
• Lightweight footwear
• MX gloves
• MX goggles
• 2–3 pairs of long riding socks
• Ear plugs
• Money
• ID
• Ibuprofen or another suitable painkiller
• First-aid kit
• Energy/glucose tablets
• Medical insurance with repatriation cover (mandatory)
Q: What happens if I need to cancel?
A: There are a few options depending on how long before the guided motorcycle tour you need to cancel. You can change the name of the person participating in the tour or use the deposit towards a future tour. Please read the Transylvania Trails Terms & Conditions for more details.
